| HUMANITARIAN AND CONSERVATION PROGRAMS Our Humanitarian and Conservation Committee is in the process of donating an amazingly lifelike Robotic Whitetail Buck to the VA Department of Game and Inland for Anti-Poaching enforcement. The "Blue Bag" program is an effort whereby a local chapter fills up a very large blue duffel bag with medical, school and other supplies and our members distribute these items to needy people in the areas where they travel to hunt. If you are preparing to travel and would like to participate we have blue bags available. Our Chapter donates over a ton of venison to the local Hunters for the Hungry program annually as well as providing significant financial support. This provides badly needed protein to the less fortunate and allows our members tohelp in harvesting the locally overpopulated deer population that they coud not utilize for their own use- a perfect example of uitlizing a healthy renewable resources to benefit our local community. The National Capital Chapter is also funding the Rewards Program for reporters of Game Violations. In cooperation with other local conservation groups we recently helped fund, manned a booth and taught fishing and outdoor enjoyment to more than one hundred local youth as well as their parents. . If you would like to become involved with these programs or have other ideas Click here to correspond with Bruce |

| Sables Programs The sables are the primary Educational arm of SCI and our local Sables have provided many hours of education and advice to local Scout and youth groups. The Sables along with the Chapter have provided Safari-In-A-Box to many local Schools as well as the Leesburg Branch of the Smithsonian Institution, these hands-on educational teaching aids are in very high demand and well utilized in local public and private schools. Our Chapter and Sables have paid to send 26 local teachers to the SCI Foudation's American Wilderness Leadership School. There they are educated about the scientific use of conservation and the integral part of hunting in conservation and game management, this then becomes part of the curriculum which they pass on to their students. | The National Capital Chapter of Safari Club International is involved in many charitable projects, whenever possible we try to benefit those in our area, our primary areas of focus are: education, humanitarian, conservation and wounded warrior/veterans. Anyone who would like to participate or contribute to any of these projects would be greatly appreciated. The experience of helping others is often as rewarding for the giver as it is to the receiver. Many of our projects incorporate the goals and skills of more than one committee. Suggestions for future endeavours are invited and welcomed. |
